July 2025 Barbering Trends: What’s Hot in the Chair This Summer
The barbershop is more than a place to get cleaned up – it’s where trends are born, confidence is shaped, and culture is cut into every style. As we enter the heart of summer 2025, a new wave of trends is sweeping through barbershops across the country – and San Diego is right in the center of it.
At Associated Barber College, we train future barbers to not only master timeless techniques but also to stay ahead of the style curve. Here’s what’s hot this July and how our students are learning to lead the movement.
Summer Fades Get Bolder
Fades are a staple – but this summer, bold is the new clean.
Barbers are getting creative with high-contrast skin fades, shadow fades with sharp detailing, and even color-infused fades that blend vibrant hues into short crops. Expect to see creative razor designs and geometric shapes etched into sides for extra personality.
Students at Associated Barber College are learning how to take the fundamentals of fading and turn them into custom art for each client.
Texture Over Perfection
2025 is moving away from the hyper-polished look and embracing natural texture.
Curls, coils, and waves are being left longer on top and styled with low-shine products for a relaxed, confident finish. It’s all about controlled chaos – giving movement without losing structure.
We teach our students how to work with all hair types and embrace the unique texture of every head that sits in their chair.
Beard Sculpting Levels Up
Beards remain a major statement – but July is pushing toward sharper lines, clean cheek curves, and crisp jaw definitions. The goal: effortless sharpness.
Our students are mastering the art of combining trimmers, scissors, and razors to shape beards that match face shape, lifestyle, and personal aesthetic. Beard balms, hot towels, and precise oil applications are a must.
The Classic Cut with a Modern Flip
The Ivy League cut, the crop, and the pompadour are all back – but this time with slight updates: asymmetrical parting, natural product finishes, or paired with a drop fade.
Clients want a timeless look with a hint of now – and students at Associated Barber College are trained to deliver just that.
More Than Hair – It’s a Whole Vibe
The modern barbershop experience is growing more refined. Clients want connection, good conversation, and a space that feels like community.
At Associated Barber College, we don’t just teach style – we teach presence, communication, and service that goes beyond grooming. Our students are learning to build environments where people feel seen, heard, and respected.
