Thank you for considering our school for your educational needs to become a licensed barber and/or cosmetologist by the State of California. You are now entering into an industry that could provide you excellent opportunities for a successful career in the hair industry. Our school emphasizes on how to pass the State exam, be successful in the hair industry and how to succeed in all your professional hair industry goals. This means hard work, dedication and preparation on your part. Associated Barber College of San Diego welcomes everyone interested in a barber or cosmetology career. PREPARING TO ATTEND
Complete and fill out our enrollment application and call our school’s office to make an appointment with our admission staff. Please bring your high school diploma (or its equivalent), social security card, valid photo identification and your tuition deposit (or Approved Funding Source). All applicants must be 17 years of age or older.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Associated Barber College of San Diego (ABCSD) admissions office is located at:

Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5pm (after 5pm appointments are welcome).
New and returning students need to apply in person. Applications can be found here. We recommend an appointment, however, please come see our school anytime during business hours. Students may submit an application by mail or in person for enrollment on any day of the school calendar. Once your application is received by the school’s office, you will be contacted by email or telephone to confirm receipt of your application. At that time, the applicant will receive an appointment time to meet our Admissions team to answer questions and submit the application fee and state fee for enrollment. After the fees are paid, accepted applicants will receive an Orientation Date. It is our school’s policy that prior to enrollment, (signing the enrollment agreement) the school will provide and encourage prospective students to review the school’s Catalog, the school’s Performance Fact Sheet and other disclosures which are also posted on the school’s website. These documents will assist the student to make an educated selection of the programs of study offered by this institution. The institutional catalog and disclosures are updated annually by the dates on the cover page.
Students that wish to enroll in the Barber Course 1000 Hour Course or the Cosmetology Course 1000 Hour Course must meet the following criteria and submit the following documents:
A) Applicants must provide a copy of his/her high school diploma, GED or its equivalent. ABCSD will verify the authenticity of the diploma prior to enrollment. If the diploma cannot be verified, the student may be asked to provide a final high school transcript showing the dates of entrance and graduation. If transcript is not available, the student will be required to take the GED test prior to enrollment. Any foreign documents must be translated prior to submitting them to ABCSD.
B) Students must be at least 17 years old at the time of enrollment.
C) Students must show valid Government issued identification
D) Signed social security card.
Students that wish to enroll in the Barber Crossover Course (400 Clock Hours – Exceeds State Requirements) or the Cosmetology Course (300 Clock Hours) must meet the following criteria and submit the following documents:
A) Applicants must provide a copy of his/her valid California Cosmetology or Barber license and proof of training document from cosmetology or barber school.
B) Applicants must provide a copy of his/her high school diploma, GED or its equivalent. ABCSD will verify the authenticity of the diploma prior to enrollment. If the diploma cannot be verified, the student may be asked to provide a final high school transcript showing the dates of entrance and graduation. If transcript is not available, the student will be required to take the GED test prior to enrollment. Any foreign documents must be translated prior to submitting them to ABCSD.
C) Students must be at least 17 years old at the time of enrollment.
D) Students must show valid Government issued identification
E) Signed social security card
ABCSD has not entered into an articulation or transfer agreement with any other college or university. ABCSD does not accept secondary students.
CLASS START INFORMATION
Our school starts a new class every five weeks. All students must attend Orientation before starting class.
Practical & Theory aspects of training will run continuous from
Monday – 8:30am – 7:00pm
Tuesday – Friday – 7:30am – 7:30pm
Saturday – 8:30am – 3:30pm
